Improv Comedy delivers much needed laughter with valuable life skills. Our shows introduce the art form, using student participation to create original theater and music. We use story and play to inspire community, creativity and leadership. YES AND… Improv IS Social Emotional Learning. We come together as a team to create original skits and songs.
Every show starts with one of our teaching artists warming up the crowd and introducing Improvisation. Then we perform a series of “games”, skits and songs improvised based on audience suggestions and participation. Every 4-5 minutes we interact directly with the full audience, getting topic ideas, usually based on student’s favorite movies, TV shows, books, sports, vacation spots, foods, etc. 3-4 games invites student’s on stage to directly steer the comedy direction. We usually bookend the show with at least 2 songs. The result is an Off-Broadway style musical revue complete created on the spot, original and naturally customized to your students.
