This pick from 2006 weekend of shows and workshops for the kids of the Ohio National Guard. It was this weekend we truly discovered the power of improvisation.

Kids participated in a weekend of workshops with our teaching artists. Creating a fun safe space to create and communicate. Kids of weekend warriors often have TWO parents that met as Guard members. In 2006, they were taking turns over seas in Iraq and/or Afghanistan. So these kids were living in forced single parent homes with fear a parent might not be coming home. When in comes home, the other ships out. Sadly, In some cases they did not come home. The weekend ended with the kids performing for all the adults, sharing how they feel, how much they love their parents, some of their fears, etc.Even the General was in tears. Our mission solidified that weekend and has continued to grow, as we use Improv to teach valuable life skills: creativity, critical thinking, public speaking, self confidence, self awareness, listening, focus and more. but after the past three years we realize our #1 gift to our students/audiences is the much needed laughter and smiles!!!
